For the birds!

On the very first day that we moved onto our boat, we rescued this Pelican. With a bird island right behind our marina, we knew they would need our help from time to time. What I never realized, is how much I actually love birds and what an honor it is to be able to help them when our paths cross. Somehow, they find us. Even the birds that don't need help seem to come to our boat. We have names for some of them and even our little Mr Pete's has made friends with a cormorant like bird that we call snake neck. While sailing we've had them hitch a ride too. Somehow in our own little capacity, I feel that we can make a difference for them!
